OMA Award Descriptions: Awards are presented annually at the fall conference to obesity medicine clinicians whose outstanding achievements are deserving of special recognition. Dr. Peter G. Lindner Award Presented in honor of Dr. Lindner, a gifted teacher, who worked with the scientific community to further the mission of OMA and achieve recognition of its members. Dr. Raymond E. Dietz Meritorious Service Award In honor of Dr. Dietz, a pioneer, this award recognizes an individual who has made continuing contributions to OMA. Dr. Vernon B. Astler Award

Recognizes the efforts of a member to advance OMA’s place and purpose to the media, government, and/or medical community, as did Dr. Astler in helping guide OMA to

secure a seat in the American Medical Association House of Delegates. Steelman-Seim Educator Award for Excellence in Academics

Bestowed upon a member exhibiting excellence in advancing the cause of health care through education and teaching. Obesity Medicine Clinician of the Year Recognizes a clinician who has done the most to advance the field of obesity medicine and OMA. Committee Leadership Award

Recognizes outstanding contributions by one or more individuals who worked on a committee-driven project and furthered an initiative on behalf of OMA.
