Greetings Ms. Fraker, My name is Micaela Karlsen, Senior Director of Research at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). I am writing to inform you that the ACLM is initiating a new clinical practice guideline (CPG) on Lifestyle Medicine for Treatment and Remission of Type 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes in Adults . Using methodological rigor and a multi-disciplinary panel, clinical practice guidelines present the best available evidence for a particular topic. The purpose of this CPG is to provide clinicians with evidence-based recommendations in lifestyle treatment of adult patients with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes by: 1. Identifying quality improvement opportunities related to the use of lifestyle for treatment and remission of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes in adults, 2. Decreasing variations in practice, 3. Improving outcomes for patients, 4. Reviewing and presenting the current evidence, and identifying research opportunities. ACTION: On behalf of our guideline chair, Richard M. Rosenfeld, MD, MPH, MBA, we would like to invite the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) to nominate an individual to represent your specialty as a member of the guideline development group. We have identified Dr. Deepa Sannidhi as a member of your organization who could potentially serve as a guideline development group representative; however, if you would prefer to nominate an alternate candidate, we would welcome the nomination and participation of this individual as well. ACLM will be utilizing the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery’s guideline development manual protocols for the development of this guideline. Attached, please find a description of the roles and responsibilities of development group members, as well as a timeline for development. We do not seek endorsement by OMA, only that you nominate someone to represent your field on the development group. Once the document is completed, we will invite your organization to endorse it; however, it is not a requirement. Please note, panel members will be confirmed only after their potential financial disclosures/conflicts of interest have been reviewed by the CPG leadership.
