It is imperative to recognize weight bias and mitigate its detrimental effects. Recommendations are provided for: 1. Education on obesity as a chronic disease; advances in research and management: individuals with obesity must be treated by providers and insurers as other patients with a chronic disease. 2. Sensitivity training to increase awareness for and reduce the impact of weight bias.
