2020-10-29 OMA Agenda - Board of Trustees
October 29, 2020 OMA Board of Trustees Meeting Action Item Request by Katrina Crist, MBA, CAE, OMA Executive Director Direction on FOMA Annual Maintenance Requirements and Compliance Per the OMA Website: Maintaining the Fellow Designation Those who have been awarded the Fellow designation may use FOMA after their name. In order to maintain the designation, Fellows must: - Maintain their membership in OMA and remain in good standing - Earn a minimum of 15 CME hours through OMA each year It appears that many fellows may not be aware of the annual requirement for 15 CME credits to be obtained through OMA-specific education. Half of the Master Fellow of OMA members and 40% of the Fellow of OMA members do not have any OMA specific CME credit pending. If we include those who have pending credit requiring action by end of year to fulfill the requirement, it is 60% (see breakdown below). We would like to send out individual communications advising of current status if staff are to ensure compliance.
Options:
1. No change to requirements. Staff to communicate with fellow members advising of this requirement by end of December 2020. 2. Waive requirement for 15 OMA-specific CME hours for 2020. Staff to develop communications plan to educate members about this requirement and advising compliance will be required in 2021 to maintain fellow status. 3. Eliminate annual requirement to earn a minimum of 15 CME hours through OMA.
Current Status of 59 Fellows in OMA Database Master Fellows (8 total) • 3 members have 15 CME hours for the year • 1 member has the CME hours pending • 4 have zero CME hours for the year Fellows (51 total) • 1 dropped for non-renewal of membership • 12 have the required CME hours pending • 33 do not have the required 15 CME hours for 2020 • 4 had no CME hours for 2019 or 2020 • 1 had no CME hours since 2016
