Motion RE: Establishment of an Annual Grant for Obesity-Related Publication Projects for Obesity Pillars

The OMA recognizes the importance of advancing knowledge and research in the field of obesity, and the OMA endeavors to be the “go to” subject matter expert association in this area of medicine . In particular, the OMA prefers such scholarly work be published in its journal, Obesity Pillars. In order to support these endeavors for authors who wish to submit to the journal, the suggested motion is that the OMA’s BOT approve an allocation of $20,000 per calendar year for grant-related applications to support such publications in Obesity Pillars . The approval process for said grants would reside with the Editor-in-Chief of Obesity Pillars and the OMA President. Should the OMA President and the Editor-in-Chief of Obesity Pillars be the same person, grant review and approvals will be sought from the Immediate Past President of the OMA and the OMA’s President -Elect.
