Policy Committee Meeting 9_28_2023
American Society for Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) development begins with a comprehensive, transparent, reproducible literature search which allows for formulation of recommendation statements which are then graded according to their strength and quality level. The CPG Committee uses the GRADE system to determine the level and grade of the evidence. The CPG development/updating process is a 100% volunteer effort managed by CPG Committee Leadership and the lead author (a CPG Committee member) assigned to the CPG. The full CPG Committee vets all final versions of CPGs before they are sent for approval and publication. Once a CPG is ready for publication, it is vetted and approved by the ASCRS Executive Council and then by the editorial board of ASCRS's official journal, Diseases of the Colon and Rectum (DCR). CPGs are published in DCR. All of the currently published CPGs are posted on our website here, https://fascrs.org/healthcare providers/education/clinical-practice-guidelines, and on the ASCRS U free access channel here, https://www.ascrsu.com/ascrs/index/ASCRS-Toolkit//Clinical_Practice_Guidelines.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
