the goal of improving health outcomes and modifiable risk factors for people living with obesity. The

measures currently under consideration and are being piloted are: obesity diagnosis, obesity

prediabetes and diabetes HbA1c control, obesity weight loss with medication, and obesity blood

pressure control (MN Community Measurement, 2021). As part of this project, MNCM is conducting

pilot testing, technical assistance, data collection, analysis, and reporting while the Endocrine Society

determines steps for use in federal programs, NQF endorsement, and use dissemination. This effort is

expected to deliver a final report at the end of 2023. All of the obesity quality measure roundtable

convenings and projects referenced to this point were funded by Novo Nordisk, Inc.

In alignment with previous and ongoing work, STOP Obesity Alliance will convene a roundtable

of clinical and public health experts, patient advocates, professional organizations, payers, federal

officials, and other experts to discuss the state of obesity quality measures. With funding support from

Eli Lilly, the goal of the roundtable is to identify a broader strategy for standardized measures for obesity

that can serve as a roadmap for development and implementation of measures into clinical care and

payment models.

Limitations

The scope of this paper included a current landscape of obesity quality measures development,

endorsement, and implementation among major quality reporting and payment programs. As such,

there are several limitations. This paper is not a systematic review of all obesity quality measures

developed, endorsed, or implemented over time. Only U.S. based quality measures and databases were

included in the search, therefore, international and global quality measures for obesity care were not

identified. Further, we focused on major healthcare quality reporting and payment programs, but did

not capture smaller quality reporting programs, such as Doctors Compare or Million Hearts. Finally, the
