Motion for an edited proposal and bylaws changes from the AMA Delegate Seats/Membership Task Force and Policy Committee to be brought to the BOT in the next 90 days for finalization. The motion passed Treat or Refer Campaign and Prior Authorization (PA) Project with PRIME Education Dr. Fitch discussed the Treat or Refer project outline and proposal as included in the 2023 OMA strategic plan. She explains that this endeavor contains three main components including a dedicated website, partnership with Project ECHO, and development of an Obesity Champions Council in various health systems and practices across the United States. The website would house obesity medicine treatment educational materials and tools by which to connect with obesity medicine experts in various locales. Project ECHO would be a national partner that the OMA can use at no charge in order build community with this project. The concept would involve the OMA’s clinical experts who would host ongoing (likely monthly) webinars where the experts and learners would discuss case studies and engage further in knowledge transfer. Dr. Francavilla Brown suggests rethinking the $15,000 education budget. She shares that if OMA wants to produce a comprehensive program, producing new and original curriculum that outlines how to practice obesity medicine from start to finish is necessary. Of note, relative to withdrawal of funds from the OTF as an option to support the project, Mr. Wilson notes that in the event the OMA does not solicit the amount needed to fund this project, there needs to be an investigation as to whether or not OTF funds could be leveraged in to support this project relative to the 501c (3) status of the OTF. Motion for the BOT to allow the treat or refer campaign to proceed as outlined and to solicit funds for this project from the Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) partners which would allow for a total of expenditure of up to $250,000 including an authorization to withdraw funds from the OTF as needed to support the project with the OTF considerations noted by Mr. Wilson above. The motion passed Dr. Fitch discussed the Prior Authorization (PA) Project, and shares that by working with PRIME CME educational organization, the OMA is hoping to work toward unifying and streamlining the PA process for anti-obesity medications (AOMs) for clinicians and their patients. The OMA and the PRIME CME organization will continue to work together to realize this outcome. Education/Conferences Task Force Update Dr. Fitch explained that the Education/Conferences Task Force recommendations outline three distinct groups as it relates to the OMA’s overall education program strategy. These include the Conference Advisory Group (CAG), the OMA Education Content Working Group, and the CME Overview Committee.
