12.18.23 OMA Board Book
Changes to your current membership type will be made at the time of your membership renewal, and you will remain in the “voting” category until the time of your membership renewal. At the time of your membership renewal, you will be presented with two options for your membership category, one for “voting” and one for “nonvoting” with the associated pricing options to either keep your membership as is (in this case, non-voting) or if you wish to move to a “voting” membership option you must pay the physician membership fee of $475/year. I am an Associate (or NP/PA) Member of the OMA, and my membership is not due to be paid again until November of 2024. Once these bylaw changes are enacted, am I automatically changed to a “non-voting” member? Once the bylaws are enacted, ALL of OMA’s members (other than physicians) remain as “voting” members until the time of their membership renewal as described immediately above.
Do the changes in the OMA’s Bylaws call for differing terms (length of service) on the BOT from what currently exists? No changes have been made to the terms (length of service) on the OMA’s BOT.
I have always purchased a multi-year OMA Membership (i.e. 3, 5, etc.). Can I still do this under the new voting and non-voting membership levels? The OMA will still offer multi-year options with the new membership types, and all members will have the option to choose multi-year memberships at the time of their renewal. New members will see these same options as well. For example, if an Associate Member purchased a three-year multi-year membership in 2023, they will remain a “voting” member of the OMA until they are due to renew in 2026.

Thank you so much for your being a member of the OMA. We are writing to let you know that your Board of Trustees (BOT) is recommending some important changes to the OMA’s Bylaws. More information, along with a request for your vote, will be provided in the coming weeks. A primary strategic focus of the OMA is that obesity be recognized as a disease and that patients with obesity are able to receive access to comprehensive obesity care. Unfortunately,
