RE: NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Education
OMA’s Clinical Education Director, Dr. Nick Pennings was approached by an obesity medicine practice group called CorelifeMD https://corelifemd.com/ (this group is based out of the Eastern part of the United States w/48 clinics & 90 interested professionals) to ask that OMA open up the NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Education for other professionals beyond the NP/PA group to include allied health professionals such as RDs, RNs, PharmD, etc. CorelifeMD ’s request was for 90 professionals in their network be trained using OMA’s educational products w/60 hours of credit ($60K in revenue). Rather than reinvent the model that exists currently for NPs/PAs, Dr. Pennings reviewed the existing curriculum and offered the group the opportunity to access OMA’s educational products as outlined here, but instead, confer to these professionals (upon successful completion of the CME/CE credits) a Certificate of Advanced Training in Obesity Medicine for Allied Health Professionals as to not confuse the difference between the existing NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Education. Dr. Pennings requested that the board be appraised of this which could additionally be considered for other professionals beyond this singular request from the CorelifeMD group.
