only physicians. I have discussed this situation with AMA staff and they look at OMA’s voting membership. They are NOT concerned about non-voting members. They are also not concerned about the composition of the board. Having a lower fee for non-voting PA/NP members could grow th is segment of OMA’s membership. Those that wish to pay full-fee for voting privileges and run for office can do so. Further, allowing NP/PA colleagues to run for EC position(s) after fulfilling the board service requirement is fair, and will increase th is group’s voice and visibility in the highest leadership positions in the organization.
Depending on the percentage of voting NP/PA members, we should re-consider representation on the board on a rolling 5-year interval.
