Potential Interventions (by the OMA BOT & the OMA Staff) to Assist with AMA Membership: • Offer OMA discounts for AMA Membership

The OMA currently provides a 20% discount for current AMA members & the process is automated when the OMA member enters their AMA number when joining the OMA or renewing with the OMA. The OMA Membership Department endeavors to perform annual data cleanups to ensure that the OMA member is still active with the AMA, however, as a means of keeping up with the data as closely as we are able. • Utilize external funding sources to sponsor per physician scholarships to support their AMA membership This might be a viable solution for the annual AMA Membership ($420), however, it is uncertain if the annual AMA Membership is felt to be a fiscal barrier for physicians or (more likely) physicians do not see the value proposition of an AMA Membership & therefore, they do not join the AMA. • Add a reminder & encouragement for physicians to join the AMA to Dr. Fitch’s Presidential Address & Welcome at the 2024 Annual OMA Conference (in addition to subsequent OMA President’s Addresses & Welcome remarks at future conferences) This has been added to Dr. Fitch’s Presidential Address & Welcome for the 2024 OMA Annual Conference. • Add reminders to join the AMA to the OMA Membership’s Newsletters This can occur, however, with the already “dense” messaging in the OMA Monthly Newsletters, this may not be feasible or yield the number of AMA members we’ll need before evaluated again in 2026. • Use the OMA Membership Committee to serve as “word of mouth” ambassadors in this effort The OMA’s Membership Committee can function as “word of mouth” ambassadors & develop testimonials to encourage additional members to join the AMA, while spreading the word on the importance of OMA’s ability to maintain its HOD seat. • Require all OMA BOT physician members to join the AMA To be discussed further by the OMA BOT. • Require all physicians who hold an OMA Committee Chair seat to join the AMA To be discussed further by the OMA BOT. • Require all physicians who are members of an OMA Committee to join the AMA To be discussed further by the OMA BOT. • OMA Staff to conduct video testimonials from Drs. Lazarus, Auriemma, Francavilla Brown, Knoop (& others?) for use on social media, newsletters & the like. One of the OMA Marketing Team members will be conducting these interviews at the 2024 OMA Annual Conference for use in the future.
