assistant members must also have an active and current state medical license. In no event shall the members of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Voting category of membership (when combined with the Associate Voting category of membership) comprise more than forty percent (40%) of the voting membership of the Association. Once this threshold is reached, additional Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant applicants for membership will be placed in the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Non-Voting category until space in the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Voting category becomes available. (2) Membership Benefits. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Voting members are eligible to vote, to be a member of the Board of Trustees in the designated non-U.S. Physician board position(s), and to chair or participate in committees, but are ineligible to be an Officer. (c) Associate Voting Members. The Associate Voting category of membership shall have the following structure: (1) Definition. Any national or international health care professional who is not a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant and who holds an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in a field supportive of obesity medicine. In no event shall the members of the Associate Voting category of membership (when combined with the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Voting category of membership) comprise more than forty percent (40%) of the voting membership of the Association. Associate Voting members are eligible to vote, to be a member of the Board of Trustees in the designated non-U.S. Physician board position(s), and to chair or participate in committees, but are ineligible to be an Officer. Section 2.03: Non-Voting Membership Categories: All Non-Voting Membership categories are not eligible to vote, cannot hold elected office (meaning ineligible to be an Officer (as defined below) or a member of the Board of Trustees), and cannot chair committees, but can participate in committees International Physician Non-Voting Members. The International Physician Non-Voting category of membership shall have the following structure: (1) Definition. Any physician who holds a medical degree from another country (i.e. outside the United States) that is equivalent to an MD/DO degree. International Physician members must also have an active and current medical license in the country of practice. (b) Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Non-Voting Members. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Non-Voting category of membership shall have the following structure: (1) Definition. Any nurse practitioner/physician assistant who has completed an accredited NP or PA program and/or maintains certification with their approved national certifying body. Nurse practitioner and physician assistant members must also have an active and current state medical license. (a)
