Obesity Standards Development Dr. Fitch shared that the OMA is working with Obesity Canada, TOS, ASMBS and others to develop standards for obesity care. TOS is taking a lead on this effort with their President-Elect, Dr. Jamy Ard, and Dr. Fitch will be representing OMA on a steering committee. Dr. Fitch will share updates on this work with the BOT as the steering committee assembles accordingly. Dr. William (Bill) McCarthy Recognition The BOT shared various ideas on how to best honor Dr. McCarthy’s meritorious and dedicated educational service to the OMA prior to his passing in June of 2023. The motion to rename the Clinician of the Year Award to the “William H. McCarthy Clinician of the Year Award” was seconded and passed without opposition. This change will be initiated along with the other OMA recognition awards during the April 2024 Annual Conference. Placement of OMA’s Annual Awards and Installation of Officers Ceremony in the Spring Annual Conference The BOT discussed if the awards and installation of officer(s) ceremony should remain at the member event or shift to a more formal time during the actual conference programming hours. After discussing further, the BOT leaves this decision up to the discretion of Ms. Fraker and Dr. Fitch. Closing Remarks: Novo Nordisk has agreed to host an informational call on pharmaceutical pricing with any BOT Members who wish to participate. Ms. Fraker will forward details to the BOT on this meeting once the date and time have been established.
