March 30, 2021

Katrina Crist Executive Director Obesity Medicine Association 7173 S Havana Street Suite 600-130 Centennial CO 80112 Dear Ms. Crist:

I would like to inform you that since your medical society is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates, your society is eligible to appoint a physician representative to the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC) Advisory Committee. The AMA formed the RUC in 1991 to provide clinical expertise in submitting recommendations to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on the time, work and resources that go into the provision of services described by Current Procedural Terminology (CPT © ) codes. RUC Advisory Committee members are invited to attend the RUC meetings and are the primary individuals responsible for representing their specialty society at the RUC. The RUC meets three times a year, which is closely coordinated with both the CPT Editorial Panel’s schedule for annual code revisions and the CMS schedule for annual updates in the Medicare Physician Payment Schedule. Attached for your review, describing the RUC process, is the RUC Booklet. To learn more about the RUC, please visit www.ama- assn.org/go/rbrvs. Your specialty society is eligible to appoint a member and alternate member of the RUC Advisory Committee and two specialty society staff. Please send a letter by April 26, 2021 indicating the physicians nominated, their brief curriculum vitae and contact information. Please provide specialty society staff contact information as well. Send nominations via mail or e-mail to: Ezequiel Silva, III, MD RUC Chair American Medical Association AMA Plaza 330 North Wabash, Suite 39300 Chicago, Illinois 60611 Attn: Ruby Overton-Bridges ruby.overton-bridges@ama-assn.org If you have any questions, please contact Ruby Overton-Bridges (312) 464-4736.
