o Full voting rights and can run for a board position. o Only physician
Allows for all voting members to pay the same price for
If we assume that we would limit the non-physician voting group to a maximum of 40% voting members.
members would be allowed to run for an Executive Committee (EC) seat. members have 1 seat currently, and this plan proposes that this representation increase to 2 board seats.
membership which could increase physician membership.
Example based on hitting the 40% max:
Physicians = 2,407 International = 69
o Non-physician
40% of NP/PA + Associate = 550 Total voting membership = 3026
An option to consider would be to increase non-physician seats on the board to two vs.
If we divide total physician count of 2476 (includes Domestic and International as they are both current voting members, but International cannot be AMA members) by the new total voting membership of 3026, it would calculate to 82% now which is easily above the requirement. Additionally, to meet the 20% gradient for AMA of physician members who must be AMA members, using this same scenario, of the 2407 total physicians, a minimum of 481 of those physicians would be required to be members of the AMA. Further, if we allow CITs (only resident and fellow physicians since medical students, nursing students, NP students, etc. are not physicians) to vote, this will also increase the % of voting membership as well as the minimum 20% of AMA membership gradient for the physician segment of the OMA.
one seat currently allowing for other non physician
Non-Voting Member:
o Do not have voting rights and cannot run for board position. A slightly lower fee TBD. Adjust fees for the non physician and physician voting members so they are the same. See below for the following potential pricing considerations: All voting members moving forward would pay the current physician rate of $475 annually. Physician and NP/PAs who select the non-voting option would pay the current NP/PA rate of $325.
members to serve on the board. The fiscal (expense) impact of this addition would be approximately $5K annually (travel, registration to conferences, etc.)
Impact Factor: (Positively) High
